This show is free for UW Students w/current UW ID and General Public tickets are also available for $17 online and $20 at the door.

Atlanta-native, The-Dream, has topped R&B charts with hits including “Rockin that Shit” and “Falsetto,” and is releasing his fourth-studio album this summer. The-Dream has also won 2 Grammys for songwriting and production of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”

The second headliner, Kendrick Lamar, is a rising MC from Compton who has recently toured with Drake and released hits such as “The Recipe (feat Dr. Dre)” and “A.D.H.D.” Lamar is a notoriously high-energy performer, and absolutely killed it alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and hologram Tupac at the Coachella Music Festival.

The Bar is the collaboration of Geo from Blue Scholars and L.A. based hip hop artist Bambu. These two are both staples in the hip-hop community their joint work has been highly anticipated.

MC Tiglo Goonstar & Cole are Seattle duo, Brothers from Another. Their upcoming EP “Taco Tuesday” is set to release this summer, so new tracks can be expected at the show. You can also download their album Quality of Living online!

1. Don’t Let Subsidized Stafford Loan rates double!

Twelve thousand University of Washington undergraduates have Subsidized Stafford Loan rates, roughly 1 in 3 students. More than 7 million students and their families rely on Subsidized Stafford Loans to help pay for college. If the rate goes up, millions of students will see their interest rates soar to 6.8 percent on the new loans they take out next year.  As a result, the cost of college for the average borrower taking out full Subsidized Stafford Loans will increase by 20 percent next year. This increase is happening at a time when students are already struggling financially.  Student loan debt is an astronomical $1 Trillion, higher than credit card and auto loan debt.

We cannot afford to sit by the sidelines and watch as the rates of Subsidized Stafford Loan rates double.

Please take a few minutes and follow the form on this facebook event and email your Senators and Representative to tell them not to double Subsidized Stafford Loan rates.

(Message based on an a brochure entitled, “The Cost of College Will Soar if Interest Rates Allowed to Double.” By Jennifer Mishory, Rory O’Sullivan, and Tobin Van Ostern.)
